Clicks Aren’t Enough: Pinterest Analytics That Show Your Clients Pinterest Is Actually Making Them Money

If you’re a Pinterest manager who’s doing the damn thing, getting SO excited about the rising impressions, saves, engagements, and outbound clicks you get to put on your clients’ Pinterest analytics report… Okayyy!! I see you!!!

That’s all huge. But those numbers alone aren’t what make a client stay. Because eventually, they’re gonna start thinking, “Okay… But what is this actually doing for my BUSINESS?? Am I making any real money from this??”

So, let’s talk about how to go from a Pinterest manager who gets those cute green numbers for client reports to a Pinterest strategist who’s actually making hella money for your clients, so that they renew again + again + again.

Pinterest Analytics: How to Actually Get Growth + Real Results

Tough love: Your client doesn’t actually care about Pinterest. They care about what Pinterest can do for their business.

That’s exactly why I believe Pinterest Managers should be more concerned with whether their work is contributing to the client’s actual business goals than whether or not impressions went up this month.

Because your client didn’t hire you because their lifelong dream was to get 100K Pinterest impressions. 😂

They want more people finding their business, more qualified traffic, more inquiries, more bookings or sales… And more MONEY.

And they want to understand how the work they’re paying you for is making those goals actually happen.

The Shift I Made As a Pinterest Strategist Myself

Early in my business, when I started to notice this switch, I started diving MUCH deeper into my clients’ Pinterest analytics. Because I know we’re getting hella clicks and hella views (which is GREAT because that means a TON of eyes on our content), but I started asking myself what happens AFTER people land on the blog.

For some clients, people were moving deeper into their websites.

For others, we were successfully getting people through the door… But there was a bigger gap between traffic and inquiry.

That completely changed some of the conversations we’re having internally about strategy.

Getting someone onto the website is ONE part of the job. And as a Pinterest manager, I’m sure that’s where you excel, babe!!

To become a Pinterest strategist, though, means also understanding that there’s a whole-ass journey happening after that click. And that journey? That’s how you get clients who are obsessed with your work and want to stick with you for YEARSSS.

Pinterest Managers vs. Pinterest Strategists (+ How to Become a Pinterest Strategist Instead)

Maybe you’ve been a Pinterest manager for a few years now, and you’ve got Pinterest down. Again, that’s GREAT!! But if your clients are just seeing good Pinterest analytics and not results that are making them money… They’re gonna end those contracts so fast. 😂 And I get it, we’ve ALL been there!!

Shifting from saying, “Your outbound clicks increased this month!! YAY!!” to saying, “Pinterest traffic is going up; now let’s talk about what that really means for your business goals,” is one of the things that will make clients want to stick around. Because when you’re showing someone an actual ROI and how you’re getting them there?? They’ll be literally obsessed with you and your work. And that’s the wholeee goal.

Want to get confident analyzing client results instead of just reporting numbers? That’s one of the skills we work on inside the Pinterest Academy. 🤍

How to Retain Clients as a Pinterest Strategist

Imagine going into a client call without secretly hoping they don’t ask, “Umm, is Pinterest actually working??”

Imagine being able to confidently talk about strategy + business results instead of throwing impressions at them and hoping that’s enough.

And here’s the secret: this isn’t really about becoming better at Pinterest analytics. It’s about feeling confident in the value you’re providing. Because when you know that you’re building out a strategy behind Pinterest that actually works for your clients, you’re: retaining clients → getting renewals → getting referrals → raising your rates → building predictable + recurring income. And THAT is how you get those $5K–$10K months without constantly scrambling to replace clients who leave.
